  • Reformer: The Reformer is a Pilates Machine that offers a multi-faceted weight and resistance training to your Pilates workout. The Reformer can be accessed through Private & Semi-Private Sessions or Group Classes. Classes are offered from Basic to Athletic Conditioning levels. Clients require 2 to 3 private sessions prior to entering a group class.


  • Cardio-Jump: Provided in Reformer Classes and Independent Sessions:  Increasing cardio endurance as well as

         strengthens  legs and abdominal  with minimal impact to the joints.


  • Osteopilates:  This is a  modified Pilates exercise program promoting Functional Movement for daily living, core and whole  body strengthening and flexibility. This class promotes specific concentration on the 5 principles of Pilates and core strength including mobility of spine, hips, knees, shoulders, neck, pelvis and ribcage. Basic level class.


  • Pilates Mat:  Our Pilates Mat classes include a whole body balanced workout with props. Clients can expect to be provided specific instruction on movement of every joint, in all spinal positions and balanced muscle strengthening in all 1 hour classes.  All Instructors are trained to help each client modify the movements to remain pain-free and avoid injury.  Basic, Essential and Intermediate Levels.


  • Therapy Ball Class: This is a pilates based class focusing on stretching and lengthening muscles and muscle groups that are tight or cause pain. This functional flexibility and mobility class uses Therapy Balls in specific movements to release muscles and reinstate normal muscle patterning. Instructors guide and reinforce proper movement and positioning to help each individual client to address their individual physical needs. Clients are encouraged to participate in this class when their muscles are causing postural and painful movement. Other clients join this class regularly to eliminate stubborn tightness in muscles and change long term muscle tightness patterns. Clients will learn techniques that can be done at home, when needed. This is a multi-level class designed specifically to increase range of motion in a pain-free and practical fashion. Instruction is individualized and accommodates to client needs. 


  • Strength and Balance:  Includes a 20 minute functional cardio and balance and a 35 minute Pilates core, joint and large muscle strengthening. Basic level class.



WHOLE BODY VIBRATION


  • Gentle vibration contracts and relaxes muscles for strength, balance and flexibility. The Whole Body Vibration machine mobilizes 87% of the body's muscles at once reducing pain and improving joint function and stability as it stimulates neurological and immune systems. Clients require 1 to 3, 1/2 hour private training before accessing independent sessions.


PRIVATE (1 client) AND SEMI-PRIVATE (2-3 clients)SESSIONS

  • All clients new to the studio or new to Pilates benefit from  private sessions prior to joining a class situation.Private sessions allow the instructor to conduct a postural analysis with each client, identifying modifications, recommending appropriate classes to participate in and direct instruction related to client's needs. The Instructor and Client will determine together how many Private Sessions are required before moving to a class situation.


SPECIALIZED PROGRAMMING

Stroke, Fibromyalgia, Joint Replacement, Pink Ribbon, MS, Disc Herniation, Spinal Stenosis,

Balance, Muscle and Bone Density, Pelvic Floor Functioning, Knee and Hip Dysfunction and Replacement,Osteoporosis, Osteoarthritis and Injury Rehabilitation.



  • Physio-Pilates Program: Developed in collaboration and partnerships with community therapists. Clients can access Extended Benefits when augmenting a therapy program. Contact the studio for more information.


  • Pilates-Breast Cancer Rehabilitation: This is a  volunteer Pilates Instruction program specific to the individual needs of clientele involved with Wellspring Niagara or referred by physicians or therapists. Instructors provide a postural and movement analysis along with consultation to determine appropriate service and program plan. Services could include up to 5 private sessions, regularly scheduled classes, private or small group sessions, and workshops.


  • Private Sessions: Private Sessions provide individualized support to clients based on client strengths and limitations determined through Postural Analysis, Therapist recommendations and client interests.


  • Workshops and Specialty Series:  Specialty Workshops and associated Series are offered throughout the year. 


PHYSIOTHERAPY PROGRAM


Pilates Emporium has a working relationship with Physiotherapists, Chiropractors, Osteopaths and Massage Therapists in the community. Because of our knowledge of the impeccable work these therapists do, we can help clients to find the right therapeutic intervention when Pilates is not quite enough.


In addition, Pilates Emporium offers a Physiotherapy Therapeutic Exercise program that can be covered under your Extended Health Benefits if deemed appropriate by our Physiotherapist or providing  documentation to use for Income Tax Purposes..


What is Physiotherapy?

The practice of physiotherapy is the assessment of neuromuscular, musculoskeletal and cardiorespiratory systems, the diagnosis of diseases or disorders associated with physical dysfunction, injury or pain and the treatment, rehabilitation and prevention or relief of physical dysfunction, injury or pain to develop, maintain, rehabilitate or augment function and promote mobility.


Why Physio -  Pilates Exercise for Rehab?

By teaching the client the basic principles of core strength under the "Therapeutic Exercise" program ensures that clients will become aware of how their bodies function. This is key with clients who have chronic neck, shoulder, joint and/or back issues and/or recovering from an injury or surgery. It ensures that clients reactivate and mobilize with accurate muscle patterning and balanced muscle strength, avoiding future injury and helping clients to get back to normal movement and staying that way.


Pilates Therapeutic Exercise is effective for:

Getting Started

If you currently have your own Therapist, you can participate in the Physio Therapeutic Exercise Program once your Therapist determines that an active treatment plan is appropriate for you. Your current Therapist remains as your primary therapist and our Physiotherapist assesses to determine physio-pilates participation.


Step 1

Contact the studio and we will help you book an assessment with the Physiotherapist. The Physiotherapist, Yulia Sternin B.SC., B.H.Sc., M.C.P.A. works with the studio and has a strong background with Pilates.The Assessment will take approximately 1 hour. .Once you have contacted the studio for a Physiotherapy Assessment, the studio will forward the referral to the Physiotherapist. You can contact Yulia directly to book an appointment at her office located at 3 Caroline Street, St. Catharines. Anywhere through this website where you see Physiotherapy , you can press and access Yulia's site directly to provide you with contact information.


Step 2

Yulia will assess you to determine whether or not you are a good candidate for our Therapeutic Exercise Program and determine appropriate number of sessions required to reach your goals and identify a follow-up assessment date. Yulia may choose to see you regularly to address specific physical issues that require manual manipulation in addition to recommending Physio-Pilates treatment. The Physio Assistant at the Studio is provided specific treatment plans to use with clients monitored and developed by the Physiotherapist.


Step 3

Re-Assessment occurs as often as the physiotherapist determines is appropriate for your unique needs and in accordance with guidelines of the College of Physiotherapists of Ontario.


Fees and Policies

Assessments and Sessions are booked at mutually determined times between the Physio Assistant, Physiotherapist and Client Monday through to Saturday.


Assessments and Physio Sessions  with the Physiotherapist

Assessments and Treatments with the Physiotherapist does not require up front payment and your Health Care Provider will be billed directly with appropriate Extended Health Care Information.


Physio-Pilates Treatment Sessions$75/Hour

Physio-Pilates sessions are booked depending on the recommendations of the physiotherapist. Clients purchase their session and receive a receipt following each session and clients claim based on their Health Care Benefit requirements.
